No one knows what tomorrow will bring. Sure you can make plans, have dreams and goals but there is no guarantee that any of those things will be relevant tomorrow. Everything in life can change in a blink of an eye; the world as we know could come crashing down. And that is exactly what happened to us.
The Polarizing politics in the United States got out of control. Left and right were fighting like they never had and soon the public lost faith that the government had any interest in them at all. That was when the attacks on political establishments started, followed soon by mass, organized riots, yes organized. In retaliation the government went about destroying private organizations they suspected of being involved and as paranoia got worse the country soon turned into a military state.
This was the beginning of the Second United States Civil War. Only this time it wasn't North vs. South it was the radicalized population vs. the radicalized government. Soon the government was overthrown but that did not make things better. Powerful groups of radical conservatives and liberals started to stake claim to certain states and territories and declare war on one another to become the new super power. The rest of the world left the U.S to itself, either not having the military forces to withstand or not caring one way or the other what happened, too involved in their own messes.
The rest of the population was put in disarray. People were forced to pick sides or go into hiding but with the borders on lock down there was no leaving. So many people wandered the country looking for safety or a way out, dreading that they would pass into the wrong territory.
This is what happened to Brian and me. We'd been on tour when everything went down and were stopped off in Chicago. Everything went on lock down and no one was allowed to leave the city they were in. We were all terrified but at least we had the group, our brothers with us. Until the city was attacked by a radical group of anarchists. We got separated from Nick pretty quickly, he always had a way of getting in the middle of everything. Howie we lost in a crossfire while trying to leave the city.
Now it’s just the two of us, wandering aimlessly, trying to survive, trying to find a way to escape the madness around us. Every day we live in fear but at least we have each other, there is no better comfort than that. Brian is my hope, my light in this darkness and I will do anything to make sure that beautiful soul goes on.
